Below is a suggested letter to elected officials.
| Dear {name}: I work in the construction industry and I'm concerned about the lack of an immigration policy that allows my company and others to safely employ needed immigrant workers. We need a guest worker program that makes sense and gives our immigrants a right to a job that pays by the hour and allows them to pay taxes. Many workers in our industry are paid in cash and classified as independent subcontractors. This is a huge cost to our school systems, social services, etc. and needs to be eliminated. Please help us with meaningful legislation as soon as possible. The sooner the better! Thank you, {your name here} |
