WHO AM I?
My name is Norman E. Adams. I have been a small business owner (an insurance agent) for 47 years. I have been active in the Republican Party for 47 years. In the last 30 years, due to the abortion issue, I have not missed a precinct caucus. I have been a delegate to every Republican Senatorial Convention and every State Republican Convention. I have been a delegate or an alternate to five National Conventions. I am proud to have served on the Texas Republican Party Platform Committee four times!

On May 18 Tommy Williams' Senatorial Committee held a hearing to discuss Sanctuary Cities. The hearing room overflowed with police chiefs, sheriffs, pastors, priests, and business owners. The most compelling testimony came from law enforcement. Although the bill had been drafted to avoid unfunded mandates and enhance law enforcement, the testimony proved both claims to be false. The testimony proved beyond a doubt that a sanctuary city bill would damage law enforcement's ability to protect the public, especially in Hispanic neighborhoods.

Senator Tommy Williams' SB 9 has been amended for the better!
A "revised" SB 9 passed the Senate, without two provisions that pushed mandates on our local law enforcement and authorized “roadblocks” throughout the State of Texas.
It seems clear to me. You spoke, and the Senators listened!
Texans for Sensible Immigration Policy salutes our Texas Senators, and commends them for their tireless efforts!

Fellow Americans:
Congress is listening! After the House passed its version of the Dream Act, Harry Reid tabled the Senate version and promised to put the House version on the floor near the end of the session. There were several key changes in the House version of the Dream Act, which should make it even more acceptable to Senators Cornyn and Hutchison. The rationale for using the House bill is that if the Senate passes the House bill, which is more conservative, it does not have to go to Conference Committee and it can go directly to the President for signature.

There has been a lot of misleading information in opposition to this legislation. But the truth is, it’s the right thing to do for our country, for our economy and for young people who were brought here through no fault of their own! These young folks are American in all aspects other than their immigration status.
