FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Senator John Cornyn and Representative Sheila Jackson Lee Send Joint Letter On Immigration

Joint Letter asks Congress to Listen to Message of "Texans for Sensible Immigration Policy"

Every member of Congress will soon receive an unprecedented joint letter signed by Senator John Cornyn and Representative Sheila Jackson Lee. The letter will introduce and be sent with a video on DVD produced by a group called Texans for Sensible Immigration Policy (“TxSIP”).

The Senator and the Congresswoman have met with this group, an ad hoc association of contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and associations in the construction industry. They both found their perspective on the immigration debate to be “useful and informative” and urged their fellow members to view the DVD and listen to this new voice in the immigration debate.

Such a joint letter coming from the Senator and Congresswoman is a rare event and may be a first. Given the importance of the immigration issue and the tenor of the debate over immigration, the fact that there is common ground between the Senator and Congresswoman in the message of Texans for Sensible Immigration Policy is significant.
